Summary

JOB TITLE:                   Internal Medical Orders Specialist

GENERAL PURPOSE:
In keeping with Agency, State, and Federal compliance and billing guidelines, this position is responsible for insuring the timely processing and accurate completion of physician medical orders and face to face documentation for Comfort Care Home Health. Responsible for following up with providers to insure the return of delinquent medical orders.
 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two (2) years related experience managing high volume workflows.
  • One (1) year of experience navigating clinical information system networks.
  • Prioritizing, time management and organizational skills.
  • A team player that can work with multiple departments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and customer relation’s skills.
  • Proactive self-starter, with the ability to work in a high volume environment with minimal supervision.
  • Highly motivated and target driven.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with the ability to create pivot tables in Excel.
  • Must have reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license and valid auto insurance.
  • Must be capable of performing the job functions of these positions with or without accommodations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Utilize Forcura, WellSky and other systems to process all outstanding patient/clinical records (i.e. face to face encounters, physician orders, evaluations, etc.) in order to complete patient episode and release forbilling.
  •  Responsible to meet Agency, State and Federal deadlines for obtaining physician signatures on medical orders and will follow up with providers to ensure the return of delinquent medical orders.
  •  Review physician orders for accuracy and compliance components.
  • Establish, develop and maintain positive business and customer relationships with ordering physicians and their applicable staff.
  •  Responsible for the Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) established by their manager.
  • Escalate problematic documentation to manager in order to have clinician clarify information.
  • Troubleshoot “process” related issues to management.
  • Continuously improve through feedback.
  • Travel may be required dependent ofresponsibility.
  • Adhere to all of the company’s policies andprocedures.
  • Perform other duties asassigned.
  • The chief job responsibilities of the Internal Medical Orders Specialist are as follows:
    • Create and send medical orders to signing physicians.
    • Follow-up on outstanding orders via phone call, email, fax and portal communication.  
    • Ensure returned orders are accurate and complete.
    • Attach and check in orders in Forcura and WellSky systems.
    • Cross-train in the External Medical Orders Specialistrole and provide coverage for this role when applicable or requested by manager.
